We are very excited and I’ll tell you why. Our gorgeous new studio has just opened in Milton Keynes in May! We have full control of the space and we’ve tailored it to suit intimate photo shoots – specifically boudoir. Sit back, relax and let me tell you all about it…

The Basics

We had 550 square feet to work with and we wanted to create a space that was comfortable, classy and close. Somewhere our clients would feel relaxed without the fear of interruptions. Atmosphere and mood can really make or break a photo shoot. There’s nothing worse than settling in to a session, only to have the rhythm broken by unexpected and unwelcomed disruptions.

The whole studio is very intimate; we have made sure there will be no unwanted onlookers. Along this theme, we also have a private dressing room. So, whether you’re getting ready at the beginning of your shoot, changing part way through or preparing to face the real world again, you can relax in comfort. Take your time, get in the zone and settle in.

The Props

We have selected our backdrops and props so that they will complement a variety of boudoir photo shoots. No two photo shoots are the same, so the props needed to be versatile. Our plush love seat and chaise longue work really well with seated poses but you may also try them lying down, kneeling, standing behind or anything else you can think of. We also have a king sized bed which works well for single and couples sessions. Our claw-footed slipper bath is a great way to create a really sexy look. It may be more versatile than you think and works really well whether you want to strip off and bare all or keep your underwear or even clothes on. Our fur throws can be used with any or all of our backdrops. As always, you’re welcome to bring your own props along as well – any questions or suggestions, just let us know.

It’s important to have a variety of situations to experiment with. Even if we agree the direction of the shoot – you may even have an idea of your “final” image – sometimes the unplanned poses, positions and settings give the best results. These situations can be when you really let your guard down, the bonus shots. We want you to feel sexy and have fun. Perhaps more importantly, we really want you to feel connected with your sexuality. Boudoir photo shoots aren’t about creating a version of what everyone else thinks is sexy. They are about you and nobody else. We’re not shooting for a magazine, we only have one person to please – maybe two if it’s a gift for your partner! Nothing is off limits and there are no silly suggestions. If you want to try something you never thought you would, we can talk about how best to approach it. In the bath, bed, against the wall or even on the floor…

We’re still in the process of putting together our backdrops and props and will be adding to our collection over the coming weeks and months. We will of course keep you posted with our new additions.

The Light

The main studio is painted white. This makes the job of lighting the photo shoots much easier, and also keeps the space feeling open. To allow us to create such a private space, we don’t have windows. Windows can create a problem not just for privacy, but for keeping lighting constant.

The simplicity of the walls doesn’t detract from the subject and lends itself to black and white or muted tones. We can do colour shots as well but I find removing colour from the images allows a real focus on the subject matter – colour can sometimes be a distraction.

The Area

Our studio is located within a large complex of other studios and office spaces. This means we have an onsite café and a reception desk which is manned from 9 – 5 Monday to Friday. This doesn’t limit us to working during these times though – we do weekend and evening shoots as well. We can fit sessions in to suit your availability.

Because of our location within the complex, we have plenty of free parking available. You really do just have to show up and get ready for your shoot without having to worry about the little things! And we are also easy to travel to – Evie Smith Photography is now based just off Junction 15 of the M1 motorway on the edge of Milton Keynes.

Session Options

We have a variety of photo shoot packages available for you to choose from. Our full session is two hours long with another hour for makeup. This includes consultation time and the shoot itself. During this period we will try out all of the props and a variety of poses. Typically, we will have time for three or more outfits during the full boudoir photo shoot. It really allows you to relax and get into the mood of the session.

We are very excited to now also offer mini taster shoots too. These are 30 minutes and so we are limited to the number of poses we can comfortably fit in during this time. Because we want to maintain the mood within the shorter time frame, there isn’t time for more than one outfit during the taster shoots. Again, to really get the most out of the taster session, it’s best to keep things simple and focus mainly on standing, wall shots and our king sized bed for poses and positions. Don’t worry, if you find that the taster session isn’t enough and you want to try out more poses, we can always arrange either a second taster session or a longer photo shoot!

What’s Next?

All we need to do now is talk about which session you’d like. Whether you’re thinking about a session just for you, a gift for someone else or a photo shoot with your partner, we just need to agree when – the where is taken care of.

As always, if you have any questions please get in touch. You can call or email, whichever you’re more comfortable with and fits your schedule.
